Our supporters show up for our teams and for our neighbors. Through our partnership with Food Gatherers, matchdays give fans a chance to help people facing hunger in Washtenaw County.
Food Gatherers is Washtenaw County’s leading food rescue and hunger-relief organization. Founded in 1988 as Michigan’s first food rescue program, it works “to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.” Its food bank and rescue programs supply pantries, shelters, schools, and community centers. In 2024, Food Gatherers distributed 10.3 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 8.5 million meals.
Players, supporters, local partners, volunteers, and donors all have a part to play. Working with Food Gatherers gives us a way to turn that support into help for neighbors who need it.
Each season, we work with Food Gatherers on matchday efforts to raise awareness and collect food donations. We share donation opportunities at matches and through our social channels, and our fans step up to help. AFC Ann Arbor exists to “use soccer as a force for good, to elevate women in sport, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen the fabric of our community.” Supporting food access is one way we put that commitment into practice.
