AFC Ann Arbor Men Rally Down a Man to Defeat Lansing City, 2-1
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- AFC Ann Arbor delivered a dramatic comeback victory Saturday evening at Hollway Field, defeating Lansing City Football, 2-1, behind second-half goals from Ian Lama and Prince Abban in its USL League Two home opener.
After a scoreless first half, Lansing City broke through shortly after halftime when Jorge De la Vibora found the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
AFC Ann Arbor faced another challenge in the 64th minute when Diego Ramirez was shown a red card, forcing the Mighty Oak to play the final stretch of the match down a man.
The Mighty Oak’s back line and goalkeeper Andrew Swancutt helped limit the damage after the red card, keeping Ann Arbor within reach as the match entered its final stages.
Despite the disadvantage, AFC Ann Arbor responded with resilience. Lama delivered the equalizer in the 71st minute, bringing the match level at 1-1 and shifting momentum back toward the Mighty Oak.
With the match nearing full time, Abban provided the decisive moment. His stoppage-time winner completed the comeback and secured all three points for AFC Ann Arbor in front of the home crowd.
